CAMBRIDGE — A Taunton man is dead following an accident on a construction site in Cambridge.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said a construction crew was working on a lower floor of the MIT Vassar Street dorm project on Thursday when beams collapsed onto several workers.

Three construction workers were taken to an area hospital.

One of the men, Anthony Costa Jr., 41, of Taunton, later died from his injuries.

The other two workers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Costa was a labor foreman with Walsh Brothers. The construction company had been contracted to work on the dorm construction project.

“Walsh Brothers, Inc. is doing everything it can to investigate this tragic incident and is assisting federal and local authorities,” the company said in a statement. “At this early stage of the investigation, we have no further details other than what has already been reported by the authorities.”

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating to determine Costa's cause of death.
