TAUNTON (WBSM) — A young woman was killed this morning in a fatal crash on Route 44 in Taunton.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Mallory Humphreys, 24, of Taunton was the passenger in a gray 2015 Infiniti driven by a 27-year-old Fall River man.

The D.A.’s Office said preliminary investigation indicates that they were driving eastbound down Route 44 in the area of 608 Winthrop Street, when at about 1:24 a.m. today, the vehicle rear-ended a tractor trailer that was also driving eastbound.

Humphreys was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, while the driver of the tractor trailer, a 39-year-old Brockton man, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office, Taunton Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
