Whaling National Historical Park

Now in its 25th year of existence, the Whaling National Historical Park covers a 13-block area adjacent to downtown New Bedford.

John Boehner, a retired U.S. Congressman from Ohio and former Speaker of the House, paid a visit to the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park Thursday.

A new National Park Service report shows over 9.6 million visitors to national parks in Massachusetts spent nearly $500 million at the parks in 2013. The New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park saw over 276,000 visitors last year, 87% of those were non-local recreation visits...

The New Bedford Folk Festival opens its doors Saturday at 11am.  The annual outdoor music festival in the National Park  will feature an indoor venue for the first time, with the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center serving as the festival's main stage, in place of Custom House Square, which is under construction...

A national water trail is coming to the Southcoast region.  The plan was announced Thursday night at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
