A report issued by the office of Massachusetts Governor Baker says those working in the fishing industry are among the hardest hit by opioid overdose deaths.
In his weekly appearance on WBSM, New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell said although the city saw a drop in overdoses, there has been a spike in fatal overdoses.
New Bedford Police Chief Joseph Cordeiro says his department will soon be cracking down on panhandlers entering into the street and harassing motorists for money, and that his department is also looking into the possibility of asking judges to commit more overdose victims to rehab facilities.
