Stolen Handgun Seized, Two Arrested On Drug Charges
Two people are in custody and a stolen out of state handgun was seized Monday night in New Bedford.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 894 Shawmut Avenue, which is located in the Brickenwood Housing Development, around 9:30 p.m. following an investigation into drug dealing coming out of the apartment.
Once entry was gained into the home detectives seized percocets, digital scales, heroin, packaging materials, and $1,995.
The handgun, identified as a Glock 9mm stolen from Raleigh, North Carolina, and 16 rounds of ammunition were found in a kitchen closet.
Vicente says 29-year-old Luis Miguel Lopez and 32-year-old Damaris Carrasquillo were arrested on various firearms and drug related charges.
Three children ages 9, 10, and 12 were in the apartment at the time.
