PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Twin River Casino is trying to add self-service kiosks for sports betting in time for the start of the NCAA basketball tournament.

The Rhode Island Department of Revenue said this week that testing is on schedule, with the goal of getting them running for March Madness next week.

Twin River is adding 17 kiosks to its Lincoln location and five in Tiverton, which would reduce lines at ticket windows.

Rhode Island is the only New England State that allows betting on sports.

State officials said in February that gamblers had placed $32.8 million in wagers with $31.6 million paid on winning bets since the late November launch of sports betting.

That leaves $1.2 million in revenue. They're counting on March Madness bets to help meet revenue projections for the fiscal year.
