It appears Governor Charlie Baker will not veto a bill that would legally protect transgender people who use whichever bathroom they prefer.

State Representative Shaunna O'Connell says the state passed a transgender rights bill in 2011 that banned discrimination in public places, but excluded bathrooms. Speaking on "The Barry Richard Show," O'Connell says it appears that law was not enough for the LGBT community. "We compromised. We passed things. We tried to do the right thing. But you give an inch, and they come back for another mile," says the Taunton representative. "For me, the dealbreaker is the bathroom issue. It is keeping bathrooms private for women and children."

O'Connell says she's also concerned with locker room privacy at schools and other public settings under the proposal that is working it's way through the legislature.

O'Connell says she would rather see more private accomodations for those who identify as transgender.
