New Bedford Educators Association president Lou St. John called into "Saturday Morning with Tim Weisberg" to discuss the decision not to allow Mayor Jon Mitchell to speak at Friday's teacher rally on the steps of New Bedford City Hall. St. John said he "did (Mitchell) a favor" by keeping him away from what would have been a hostile crowd toward the mayor, whom St. John said "does not support teachers."

The union president also refuted the claims of Mayor Mitchell that St. John refuses to meet with Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin.
