The Spirit of Somerset will be taking place on Saturday, September 17 at the Somerset Village Waterfront Park on Main Street in Somerset.

According to South Coast Today.com, the event will feature early-morning soap box races, clam boil, boat rides, live entertainment, an annual auto show, and a finale of fireworks.

Due to inclement weather, the rain date is set for the following Sunday, September, 25.

The day’s activities and entertainment kicks off at 10:30 a.m. with Somerset’s Dominique Domingo, who is a 14-year judo artist supreme that has set her sights on the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after returning and acing competitions last year in France, Texas, and Florida.

The award ceremony for the soap box derby race, as well as the Spirit of Somerset essay and drawing contest, will be held after 1 p.m.

Karate, Zumba, dance, and other martial arts and fitness routines will perform at the event on the lawn and main stage, and local bands and musical talent will also perform on stage.

Kicking off the evening of events will be George Lyons, a Frank Sinatra singer from Massachusetts, who has performed in Las Vegas, will perform at 5:45 p.m.

Another not-to-miss event is the third annual Auto Show on the Bluff off South Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a wide range of the area’s best custom, classic, and antique cars and motorcycles to check out.

All the events are free at the Spirit of Somerset, and a wide range of food vendors will be on-site.
