Southcoast To Have Role In New Psychiatric Hospital In Dartmouth

Acadia Healthcare and Southcoast Health are combining forces to operate a new psychiatric hospital in Dartmouth. The hospital is now under construction off Faunce Corner Road.

Southcoast President Keith Hovan says Southcoast has excellent behavioral health providers, but lacks the capacity to care for those patients. The new 120-bed hospital, slated to open in the fall of 2015, should help address that issue. In a statement released late Tuesday, Hovan says Southcoast and Acadia are in the process of finalizing a joint venture agreement for operating the facility.

The hospital is the first for Acadia in New England, and chairman Joey Jacobs says it's designed to be state of the art, and will promote healing and safety for patients and their families.
