Southcoast Health To Lay Off 95 Employees

Southcoast Health is laying off 95 employees. The action was announced by Southcoast Health President Keith Hovan in a letter to employees.

Hovan says the employees will receive a severance, and says Southcoast will work to place those individuals into other positions whenever possible.

Hovan blamed the layoffs on financial challenges facing Southcoast. He says revenue has grown by 4% over the first two quarters of the fiscal year, but expenses have grown at 6% during that same time.

Hovan says that's an untenable variance that must be corrected.
