
SouthCoast Cities and Towns to Receive Additional Road Funds
BOSTON — The Massachusetts D.O.T has announced that $40 million in additional funding will be provided to cities and towns in Fiscal Year 2019 for road construction and transportation improvement projects.
This funding was included in a supplemental budget signed by Governor Charlie Baker on Tuesday, bringing total funding for FY19 awarded through the Chapter 90 formula to $240 million.
Chapter 90 transportation funds support all 351 cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth. Funding for each municipality is predetermined by a formula that includes factors such as population, road miles, and employment.
Here are the amounts of additional funding for Southcoast area cities and towns:
Acushnet --- $63,429
Dartmouth --- $238,714
Fairhaven --- $103,999
Fall River --- $381,999
Mattapoisett --- $45,873
New Bedford --- $421,142
Wareham --- $149,524
The funds are expected to be used for road and bridge repair.
