BERKLEY — A Somerset woman has been killed in a fatal wrong-way crash on Route 24 in Berkley early Sunday morning, according to state police.

At around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, state troopers responded to reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 24 in Berkley.

State police said as the troopers were en route, 911 callers reported the SUV — a Chevy Trailblazer — was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer near Exit 13.

Emergency crews arrived to find the driver, 40-year-old Sara Paulo of Somerset, suffering from serious injuries.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Police said the tractor trailer driver, a 35-year-old man from Santa Ana, California, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
