Boston and areas to the west and north of the city were largely spared the brunt of a winter storm that roared across the Northeast, but some areas to the south, like Greater New Bedford, got socked with a foot or more of snow. Unofficially, New Bedford recieved close to 10 inches of snow. The National Weather Service reports that four inches fell in Boston, while areas to the north including Dracut and Pepperell got less than an inch. Temperatures across the state were in the single digits and not expected to rise out of the teens Wednesday.
