Millions of Americans will receive less in the food stamp assistance beginning this Friday.  The federal government's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will cut benefits for more than 47-million people as increases made during the economic crisis expire.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that benefits for a family of four receiving the maximum amount will shrink by 36 dollars a month, or 432 dollars over the course of an entire year.  Economists expect the benefit cut to also affect local communities, as every dollar of SNAP benefit spending is estimated to generate a dollar and 70 cents in economic activity.
