Shots Fired at Dartmouth Mall in Apparent Gunfight
DARTMOUTH — A gunfight erupted at Dartmouth Mall near Aldi on Friday night as two groups of people exchanged gunfire before fleeing the scene, according to Dartmouth police.
Police said in a statement Saturday that no injuries were reported after shots were fired at the mall parking lot at around 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Officers arrived to find that two groups of people had exchanged gunfire, then fled, the statement noted.
Investigating detectives found numerous shell casings and bullet fragments lodged in a vehicle parked nearby, according to police.
The vehicle was not associated with any of the shooters.
Police said all of the people involved in the incident remain at large.
No further details were disclosed.
The mall is currently hosting its annual spring carnival, which started on Thursday. Last night the carnival closed at 10:30 p.m., according to its posted schedule.
The incident comes after a fatal shooting in neighboring New Bedford early Friday morning.
