Shooting Leads to Evacuation of Providence Place Mall
PROVIDENCE, RI — Authorities are confirming that a shooting took place late this afternoon at the Providence Place Mall.
Multiple outlets are reporting the shooting took place around 4:45 p.m. in the parking garage outside the door to Nordstrom. Officials confirm one 19-year-old person was shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The mall was evacuated, and vehicles were reportedly searched as they exited the parking garage.
Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements says the manhunt is on for multiple suspects, who appear to have fled the mall.
The Veterans Memorial Auditorium, located near the mall, was placed on lockdown as well.
