
Shaw’s Laying Off 700 New England Workers
Shaw's Supermarkets is cutting it's New England workforce down by 4%. That translates to about 700 store-level employees who will be layed off. 169 Shaw's Supermarket stores will be affected.
In a written statement, Shaw's President Mike Stigers says the layoffs are a "necessary step" for the company to take to help "improve our business, reduce expenses, and reinvest in more customer-facing initiatives."
About 90 associates impacted by the layoffs have already been informed of their status.
The layoffs are expected to be finalized by tomorrow .
