Seekonk Closes Town Buildings Due to COVID

SEEKONK — The town of Seekonk has closed all municipal buildings to the public this month due to COVID-related staffing shortages, according to an announcement posted to the town website on Monday.

The statement notes that the lack of staff is caused by the COVID-19 pandemic but will continue through the month of January.

"Those needing to do business with town offices should contact the appropriate office by phone or email," the announcement reads.

It is unclear how many of the town's more than 300 employees have called in sick.

Town Administrator Shawn Cadime was not immediately available for comment.

Residents who need to do high priority or emergency business with the town can schedule an appointment for an in-person visit, according to the statement.

Anyone who needs to submit tax payments or other documents can submit them using the drop box located at the front door of Seekonk Town Hall at 100 Peck St.
