Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is thinking about running for governor of Massachusetts.

The Republican told WFXT-TV he's going to ``keep all options open'' about his political future.

Brown said the best thing he can do for himself and for his peace of mind now ``is just to hang tight and recharge and be active.''

Brown was defeated last year by Democratic U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Brown also suggested that his decision to not run again in the upcoming special Senate election had to with the prospect of having to defend the seat again next year if he won.

Fox News Channel recently hired Brown as a contributor.

Brown says he's hoping to use the opportunity to challenge elected officials to put the country's needs ahead of partisan interests. [Associated Press]
