Don't think it's doable? Think again, because millions of Americans are getting their favorite shows with the hassel of coughing up hundreds of dollars to the cable company.

A few years ago people had just about had with the high prices of cable and satellite television. While many of us still subscribe to the services, a new study shows that over 5-million households have gone 'zero TV', and it has many broadcasters worried.

Think you can't survive? Most network and cable shows are available to stream either on web services such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. With the average cable bill around $100 a month, these services save people a whole lot of cash. So how much are these services?

  • Hulu Plus - $8.99 a month
  • Netflix (just streaming) - $7.99 a month
  • Amazon Prime - $79 a year (about $6.50 a month)

Add all those together and your monthyl entertainment bill will be about $24. Pretty amazing. Obviously you can make your own changes to that, and look into other services such as HBO Go - if you can't live without 'True Blood' and 'Game of Thrones' .
