Travel lane restrictions began Tuesday on the Sagamore Bridge.

Army Corps of Engineers spokesman Tim Dugan says that one lane in each direction will be closed daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wide loads will not be permitted to cross the bridge during while the lane restrictions are in effect and State and local police will be on hand to assist motorists.

The project is expected to finish near the end of December.

Weekend lane closures may also occur.

Dugan says the closures will allow the corps to complete a $12.3 million painting project.
