Rochester Is Getting Italian Food and More at New Restaurant Costa’s Kitchen
Rochester said goodbye to Matt's Blackboard in February but is gaining a new restaurant in its place. Some well-known faces are taking ownership.
Just a few weeks ago we reported that Matt's in Rochester would close its doors after a 15-year run on Rounseville Road. At the time, not much was known about its replacement aside from its name, Costa's Kitchen and Eatery.
Enter Drew Costa, one of the owners of the new business, who said the move has been in the works for about a year and a half.
Fans of Matt's won't be disappointed as Costa's will keep the staff from the beloved establishment.
Here's what you can expect from the new place.
"The menu will change to what our family is known for: Italian food, our dad’s prime rib and pizza, as well as letting our team be creative with some weekly Blackboard specials that the Rochester locals have come to expect," Costa said.

The new owners plan to update the interior and brighten things up a little. If all goes as planned, the business will open in mid to late March.
The family behind Costa's has deep culinary roots on the SouthCoast, having run restaurants in the area for over 50 years.
Hours of operation will be Tuesday-Thursday, noon to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.
The family behind the restaurant have deep culinary roots on the SouthCoast, having managed restaurants in the area for over 50 years. Is Costa's Kitchen and Eatery in Rochester a sign of more restaurants to come?
"At this particular time, we have nothing else planned," Costa said. "We are going to concentrate 100% on this venture at that moment. We will see where life takes us."
