Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has always been a bit of an odd duck. He claims to be a Republican, yet he seems to have a tough time getting along with Republicans. This week, when most Republicans were mourning the passing of the Trump Administration, Baker was joyous.

Not only was Baker pleased that Donald Trump has moved to Florida, but he also seemed to welcome Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris with open arms.

"We wish them and their families all the best, and look forward to partnering with the new administration on behalf of the people of Massachusetts," he said.

Look forward to partnering? For four years, Baker had a Republican in the White House and refused to speak to him. When Vice President Mike Pence visited Boston, Baker hot-footed it to Southeastern Massachusetts. Now if that is not being desperate to avoid someone, I don't know what is. Baker never partnered with Trump on anything. What a waste.

Now that I think of it, Baker did everything he could to help Democrat Elizabeth Warren win re-election in 2018 even though she had a strong Republican challenger in Geoff Diehl. Oh, wait, Diehl ran Trump's Massachusetts campaign in 2016.

I just bet Baker is eager to work with Biden. The two can share their liberal views on abortion, climate change, immigration, taxation, and gender indoctrination over a latte in Cambridge.

Charlie Baker has been a disappointment as a Republican and as a governor. Massachusetts should have elected a real Democrat, one who is proud to own that title. At least we would have known what we were getting.
