Rhode Island Made Movie ‘Ella McCay’ Has New Release Date
If you were planning to see the new James L. Brooks dramedy Ella McCay this fall, think again.
The movie which filmed largely in Providence, Rhode Island, has had it's September 19, 2025 release date pushed back by several months. Now fans will have to wait until closer to Christmas for Brooks' return to big screen.
Yet the change is actually very good news for the movie.
While fans of Woody Harrelson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Mackey, Ayo Edebiri, Rebecca Hall and Albert Brooks might be disappointed to not see them altogether on screen until winter, it seems moving the movie release back was a strategic move by the studio.
According to Deadline.com, Disney has chosen to release Ella McCay on December 12, 2025 instead of their planned September debut.
