HARRISVILLE (WBSM) — The barn on the Harrisville, Rhode Island property of the famous “Conjuring House” was damaged by fire early Monday. Everyone is okay, but one of the responding fire trucks led to something a little creepy.

According to reports, the barn at 1677 Round Top Road caught fire shortly after midnight on December 4.

“Thankfully, staff jumped straight into action, and firefighters were able to contain and put out the flames,” read a post on the official Conjuring House Facebook page. “The structure is standing, and we are awaiting more information regarding the next steps for repairs.”

No injuries were reported and nobody was in the barn at the time of the fire. The barn had recently been undergoing a renovation for future use as an event space.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

It's probably nothing, but it was a little freaky how the license plate of the ladder truck that responded from the local fire department had a license plate of "666."

The Conjuring film was released in 2013 and told the story of the Perron family, who lived in the historic home from December 1970 until June 1980.

Although the movie was “based on a true story” and not a wholly factual account of the hauntings experienced by the family, it did launch an entire cinematic universe based around the case files of famed paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren.

It was eventually purchased in 2019 by Cory and Jennifer Heinzen, who opened the farmhouse up for tours and paranormal investigations, which continued when current owner Jacqueline Nunez purchased the property in May 2022.

“We are all safe and staying positive at this time,” the Conjuring House post read. “The house itself is fine, and the spirits within it are okay, as well. We appreciate all of the love and support being sent our way.”

Andrea Perron, who chronicled her family’s time in the farmhouse in her three-part book series House of Darkness, House of Light, shared her thoughts in a Facebook post.

“Mere words can't adequately express our gratitude to the Harrisville and Pascoag Fire Departments for the prompt and professional actions taken last night to extinguish the inferno and preserve what they could salvage of this historically significant barn, a magnificent structure,” Perron wrote.

“My family is devastated to see the damage done,” she wrote. “The source of the fire is currently under investigation. My heartfelt sympathy for Jacqueline and the entire staff who love the place as much as we do.”
