Revere Man Overdoses in Parking Lot of New Bedford Hotel
NEW BEDFORD - A Revere man faces a charge of operating under the influence of drugs after he was found passed out in the driver’s seat of his car Saturday morning in New Bedford.
Police say 51-year-old William Gurnett was found slumped over the wheel of his black Nissan at the exit of the Fairfield Inn on MacArthur Drive around 9:30 A.M. Saturday.
A witness flagged down a police officer, alerting them to the man who had passed out in his car, which was still running and in gear, but was not moving because Gurnett had his foot on the brake. The officer secured the vehicle and administered several doses of Narcan to Gurnett, who was taken to the hospital.
Police found evidence of drug use in the car. Gurnett is charged with operating under the influence of drugs.
There were no injuries or damage to other vehicles or property.
