Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival Is a Must-Do

The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival is a must for beachgoers, festival lovers and anyone who wants to be blown away by the artistry of world-class sand sculptors, and it's happening soon.

Several years ago, my wife and I happened upon the festival while killing time in Boston on a Saturday afternoon.

I remembered my mother telling me stories about the famous Revere Beach of her youth, so we hopped on the Blue Line and made a beeline for the beach, America's first public beach.

The Blue Line stops at the Revere Beach Station between Beach Street and Shirley Avenue. In other words, it's on the beach and smack-dab in the center of all the activity.

The 19th Annual Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival is Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30. This year's theme is "90 Years of Kong."

RevereBeach.com says, "This free event is open to the public and draws crowds from all over the world." The site expects hundreds of thousands to "venture down the event boardwalk and take in the sculptures, beach, entertainment, fireworks, and food."

RevereBeach.com says this "family-friendly event" has become a New England tradition," and this year's festival will feature "beautiful sand sculptures, food trucks, and food vendors with cuisines from around the world, live entertainment and a Saturday Night Fireworks Extravaganza."
