A person was reportedly bitten by a shark Wednesday afternoon on a Cape Cod beach.

Truro Police confirm that a man at Longnook Beach in Truro was reportedly bitten by a shark and suffered "deep puncture wounds."

The victim, a 61-year-old man, reportedly suffered puncture wounds to his leg and torso, and was taken by helicopter to a Boston medical facility.

Police say they will be releasing more details, and we will update this story as they become available. They say Longnook Beach was not shut down.

The Sharktivity map from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy does indicate there was one confirmed and one unconfirmed Great White sighting in the area today.
