State and local officials cut a ribbon at the Fort Phoenix State Reservation on Thursday, to mark the re-opening of tennis and basketball courts at the facility.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation recently completed the refurbishing of the courts, at a cost of around $30,000.

Bob Foster of the Fairhaven Tennis Association first contacted State Rep. William Straus about the issue. Foster is pleased with the outcome....

New nets were also installed at the basketball court, just in time for plenty of activity this summer. DCR Commissioner Jack Murray joined Rep. Straus for the announcement.
