What Is the Real Housewives Franchise?
Debuting in March 2006 with The Real Housewives of Orange County, the franchise has expanded to feature housewives in many cities such as New York City, Atlanta, Beverly Hills and even Dubai. The show has become a ratings juggernaut for Bravo, with 27 spinoffs and international editions to go along with the flagship show.
However, the main show has never been based for an entire season in New England, although the spinoff The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip spent a season in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
What Will Real Housewives of Rhode Island Be About?
According to the Film Office, The Real Housewives of Rhode Island will be “set against the shores of the Ocean State” and will expand the franchise “ into the world of a tight-knit circle of Rhode Islanders who have deep community roots and families that go back generations.”
“With aspirational lives, thriving businesses and tangled family dynamics, these decade-long friendships prove that in a state this small, there’s no escaping your past … or each other,” according to the release.
