A former member of Acushnet's Board of Public Works has been elected to the town's Board of Selectman.  Gary Rawcliffe outpolled businessman Paul Levasseur in balloting Monday, 468 to 355.

Rawcliffe has run for Selectman three times before, and was unsuccessful each time until Monday.  Rawcliffe stepped away from the BPW seven years ago.  He ran this year with a pledge to help fix the town's controversial water rates

The opening on the Board of Selectman was created when incumbent Leslie Dakin Jr. decided not to seek a third term.
