Providence Suspending Open-Container Laws Starting Today

Providence officials announced that they will be suspending the open-container laws for certain areas downtown and on Federal Hill starting today.

The downtown drinking zone stretches between Fountain and Washington Streets from Dorrance down to Empire.

According to ABC6, “visitors will be allowed to drink alcohol in that area from 3-11pm on Thursday and Friday and from noon-11pm on Saturday, as long as their drink is in a plastic cup.”

A drinking zone will also be in effect on Federal Hill, on Atwells Ave between Acorn Street and Garibaldi Square.
