Porch Fire Extinguished in South Dartmouth

A cigarette may have been the cause of a porch fire in South Dartmouth this afternoon.

Dartmouth Fire officials responded to a report of a fire at 30 Bliss Street just before 3pm. When they arrived, firefighters found a portion of the second floor porch engulfed in flames.

The fire was quickly knocked down.

Neighbors say the fire appears to have been caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
