A fugitive wanted for kidnapping and raping a woman at knifepoint in New Bedford two years ago was taken into custody last week after state and federal agents tracked him to Philadelphia.

34-year-old Carlos Vizcaino, who was on the Massachusetts State Police most-wanted list, was arrested without incident outside his home on April 21 by state police and federal marshalls.

Back in May of 2018, New Bedford police responded to a report of a woman without clothes running from a vehicle on Kilburn street. She was reportedly badly injured. Police said she had been held against her will, was sexually assaulted for several hours, and managed to escape from Vizcaino's car.

Vizcaino will be returned to Massachusetts to face charges of rape, armed kidnapping with sexual assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to previous reports, Vizcaino is a native of the Dominican Republic but has also claimed to be from Puerto Rico. Vizcaino has had multiple aliases including Luis Castro, Luis Linares, and Angel Maysonet.

In 2019 WBSM reported that in addition to the warrant for kidnapping and sexual assault issued out of New Bedford District Court, Vizcaino had four other warrants for his arrest out of Massachusetts for motor vehicle violations out of Lynn, Lawrence, Framingham, and Plymouth District Courts, and an additional warrant for motor vehicle violations out of Salem, New Hampshire.
