Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Freetown Crash
Update: Authorities are actively investigating a Freetown motor vehicle crash that took the life of a pedestrian, the Office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III has confirmed.
Shortly before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Freetown first responders discovered the victim, identified as 35 year old Christopher Pennenga of Freetown, lying in the roadway near 130 County Road. He had suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later, the DA's office said.
Freetown police and fire departments responded to the scene early on Tuesday, Sept. 1, confirmed Freetown Police Chief Carlton E. Abbott, Jr.
Massachusetts State Police detectives from the Bristol County DA's office responded to the scene. They are being assisted in the active and ongoing investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Freetown Police.
Chief Abbot in his email referred to a "Hit & Run," but authorities provided no details about a suspect vehicle. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Freetown Police Department.
