The USA Rugby Team, set to participate in this summer's Rio Olympics, announced it's 12 man team early Monday and New England Patriots Safety Nate Ebner has made the cut.

Ebner, who took a leave of absence from the Pats back in May to begin his pursuit of a spot on the Olympic roster, had signed a 2-year contract worth $4.2 million just before the news was announced.

The 27-year-old, who was drafted by New England in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, had been an All-American rugby player at Ohio State University prior to his pro career.

According to an ESPN report, Ebner, who is the only active NFL player headed to the Olympics, is scheduled to rejoin New England after the Aug. 6-11 rugby competition is completed.
