Parents Worry About Youth Football Head Injuries

Most parents are aware of the connection between football concussions and long-term brain injury, but now a Marist Poll shows a third are less likely to let their kids play because of it.

The poll shows 86% of adults have heard about gridiron brain injury risk and that for one out of five, the risk would be a key factor in deciding whether to allow a child to take the field.

Dr. Keith Strudler, the director of the Marist College Center for Sports Communication, says parents safety concerns could jeopardize the future of the sport. Historically, youth football has fueled the NFL.
