PACE YouthBuild Helps New Bedford Youth Get Set Up for Success [SPONSORED]
Since 1996, YouthBuild (under the support of PACE, or People Acting in Community Endeavors) has worked to provide youth, ages 16-24, the opportunity to overcome any barriers to their success.
PACE/YouthBuild is a non-profit agency whose goal is to provide young adults with the opportunity to become productive citizens through academic instruction, community service, and career development. They help to rebuild their community while learning life and leadership skills.
If you have a youth in your life, age 16-24, who does not have a high school diploma, YouthBuild can help.
Information sessions are being held on Tuesday, February 5th at 10am and Thursday, February 7th at 2pm. These are the final two information sessions before the February classes start.
As an enrolled YouthBuild member, youth will:
- Be part of a GED program with individual or small-group instruction
- Receive guidance and advice to help them learn life-survival skills
- Go on field-study trips to expose them to environmental and job-related matters
- Receive a weekly stipend
- Receive their Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) certificate
- Receive CPR and FIRST AID training/certificate
- Gain exposure to trade skill-oriented jobs and careers such as carpentry, construction, and environmental career opportunities
- Will have an adult staff member providing constant guidance, support, and direction
- Receive a consistent message that they are a valuable member of our community and that someone cares about their welfare
The PACE/YouthBuild program is now located in its new home at the PACE YB Youth Development Center at 127 West Rodney French Blvd, New Bedford (inside the Kilburn Mills). Read their full press release here. To reserve your spot in one of their upcoming information sessions, call 508-984-3558.
