The last official act of the Democrat Party could be the initiation of impeachment proceedings against President Trump. Nancy Pelosi knows it and is doing her best to resist it.

Some, not all, Democrats on Capitol Hill are clamoring for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump. They don't know what else to do. Trump continues to slay them at every turn and nothing they do to try and stop him has worked. They have run out of silver bullets and garlic at this point.

The American people were skeptical but were willing to give Special Counsel Robert Mueller a chance to complete his investigation into allegations that Trump colluded with the Russians, even though previous probes by congressional panels came back empty. Now that the Mueller report has exonerated Trump, the public wants Congress to get to work producing results for the taxpayers. In other words, to do their jobs.

Unless you are employed by a cable news network or have a vested interest in the drama that plays out daily inside the beltway, you have probably lost interest and patience with all of this a long time ago. Too many politicians lose touch with what is happening in the real world and what the real concerns are of the people.

With a year left before the 2020 presidential election, the last thing the people want is an unnecessary constitutional crisis. The people want health care, border security and a continuation of the robust economy. What they don't want are more hearings, particularly when Trump's only crime is that some Democrats don't like him.

Democrats move towards impeachment at their own peril. It is unnecessary, unjust, unreasonable and unwise. The people will not stand for it.

The Democrats need to focus on accomplishing something if they hope to stave off obscurity. Impeachment hearings ain't it. Personally, impeachment hearings could well escalate the demise of the Democrat party and help to move the country further away from socialism.

Oh, please pursue impeachment!
