A New York City Police Officer gunned down with his partner one week ago in Brooklyn, was laid to rest Saturday following a funeral service attended by thousands of law enforcement personnel from all over the country.  Among those attending the funeral in the Glendale section of New York were Vice President Joe Biden and at least fifty officers from Police Departments in Southeastern Massachusetts.

The funeral service for Officer Rafael Ramos was held in the church where Ramos was studying to become a minister.  Among those speaking at the service were family members, New York Police Commissioner William Bratton, and officers who served with Ramos.

The service also displayed the tensions between Police officers, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.  Union officials say de Blasio contributed to the climate of mistrust toward police, after grand juries in Missouri and New York failed to indict white police officers in the deaths of unarmed black men.

While de Blasio was speaking at Ramos' funeral service on Saturday, hundreds of uniformed police officers and citizens turned their backs on the Mayor, in a display of defiance. .
