A group of nuns in Franklin are emerging as alternative energy leaders in the region. The sisters of Mount St. Mary's Abbey hosted a ribbon cutting Saturday on their eight-point-six-megawatt solar farm. The Abbey already has a wind turbine and a geothermal heating system. The energy from the solar farm will help power all of Franklin’s schools and municipal buildings. The nuns at Mount St. Mary's are also known for their high-quality chocolate candies.
