North End attraction is getting a facelift.

Mayor Jon Mitchell says work began Wednesday on the duck pond at Brooklawn Park.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mitchell says the popular spot is undergoing an overhaul, and will be much more accessible to the pond's target audience. "Kids like to flock, like the ducks do, to the duck pond. So we're fixing it up. We're dredging it. We're going to make it look real nice and light it so it looks sharp again. Especially getting rid of the chain-link fence, I think helps," says Mitchell.

DPI crews will spend the next few weeks re-vamping the duck pond, restoring it to it's former glory.
