NORTH ATTLEBORO – Students at North Attleborough Middle School were sent home before school on Tuesday after a message threatening a school shooting was found written on a bathroom wall.

A release from Superintendent John Antonucci stated that a school staff member discovered the threatening language written on a wall in one of the bathrooms just after 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The message contained a threat of a shooting at the school, according to the release.

North Attleboro Police were immediately contacted and started investigating.

Meanwhile school officials and police decided to cancel all classes at the middle school on Tuesday out of an abundance of caution.

All after school activities are also cancelled, the release noted.

Students had not yet arrived for the day when the threat was discovered, and officials said the buses were rerouted and parents notified.

Other schools in the district are continuing with classes as normal.

 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
