The New York Times had no problem with smearing candidate Donald Trump and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh with endless articles concerning unsubstantiated allegations of sexual misconduct, but for some reason is using a totally new playbook for presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Former U.S. Senate aide Tara Reade has filed a criminal complaint alleging that Biden molested her in 1993. Reade's complaint accuses the former Deleware Senator of assaulting her "in a Senate corridor, shoving his hand under her skirt and penetrating her with his fingers,” Business Insider reported Saturday.

The New York Times initially wrote on Sunday: “The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden, beyond the hugs, kisses, and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable.”

The final edit read simply: “The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden.”

As if to suggest Reade might be full of crap the paper concluded: “Filing a false police report may be punishable by a fine and imprisonment.”

By the way, there was no "pattern of sexual misconduct" with Kavanaugh either but that didn't stop the Times and other media outlets from ignoring his right to a presumption of innocence.

Gone, I guess, is the mantra "believe all women" so popularized by the "Me Too" movement during the Kavanaugh hearings. There will be no women banging on the doors of the Supreme Court or anywhere else on behalf of Tara Reade. There will be no hearings before Congress. Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse won't ever even ask Joe Biden if he, in fact, had "boofed" while in college. It ain't gonna happen.

Just like the women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct, Tara Reade will be dismissed as just another fortune hunter seeking nothing more a payoff and 15 minutes of notoriety.

Yeah, so much for the women who actually were sexually harassed by powerful men. But after all, this never was about protecting women. It was always about taking down political opponents.

So much for justice under the law.
