Fairhaven is moving forward with a measure to govern private solar farms in the town. Monday's Board of Selectmen meeting saw that body approve a draft version of a solar farm by-law. Selectman Brian Bowcock tells WBSM News that seeing Dartmouth's struggle with private solar development helped push the creation of this by-law.

Following massive opposition to a private solar project on Hixville Road, Dartmouth Town Meeting voted last April to amend its by-law to prevent commercial-sized solar farms from being located in residential zones. The Fairhaven by-law now faces Planning Board review, and could end up on next spring's Town Meeting warrant.
