An Assistant Headmaster at the O'Bryant School of Mathmatics and Science in Boston has been named the new Headmaster of New Bedford High School. 

Kathleen Dawson begins her new job on April 1st.  She told the School Committee Monday night, she believes New Bedford High School is where she belongs.....

Also introduced was Michael Lazzareschi as the prinicpal of the "lower school" or grades 9-and 10, and Sean McNiff, the new principal of the "upper school", grades 11 and 12. 

Lazzareschi has served as a principal for 11 years in Rhode Island.  McNiff recently served as principal at South Hadley High School, and also worked at Marblehead and Fitchburg public schools. 

In a press release, Supt. Pia Durkin says NcNiff was the principal who brought staff and students together following the tragic 2010 suicide of 15 year old student Phoebe Prince.  Authorities say Prince had been bullied for months by classmates.  Six teens entered guilty pleas and were sentenced to probation and community service.
