NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police are investigating a shots fired incident in the West End on Friday.

New Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Scott Carola confirmed to WBSM News that patrol units responded to a ShotSpotter activation near Liberty and Elm Street at 4:37 a.m. Friday, indicating multiple shots were fired.

Officers arrived to find shell casings but no evidence of injuries or damages.

The incident was initially reported by the New Bedford Police Union on its Facebook page.

Carola said the investigation remains ongoing.
