Another historic undertaking for Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School as they look to expand their facilities.

Administrators, along with city and state officials broke ground on the new $17 million renovation and expansion project Wednesday.

State Treasurer Steven Grossman says the Massachusetts School Building Authority's dedication to bettering public education is apparent through Voc-Tech's expansion.

The MSBA will reimburse Voc-Tech just over $12 million of the nearly $17 million project, which will add classrooms, expand the cafeteria, update science labs and expand some of the technical programs.

The project is to be completed by December of 2014.
