NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police are investigating after two people were injured in an incident of shots fired early this morning, with one person suffering both a gunshot injury and stab wounds.

According to police, officers responded at about 4 a.m. today to the area of the Myrtle Street and Weld Street intersection for a report of shots fired.

An investigation commenced, and one victim was located with a gunshot injury that was not considered life-threatening, as well as stab wounds.

Shortly thereafter, police located another male in the area of the Serta bus terminal with non-life-threatening injuries, which police say may be related to the incident on Myrtle Street.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
